personality

As a woman who rarely shows any signs of actually having any emotions, it’s hard to say what kind of person Emeline is. On one hand, she is everything that embodies the rich and beautiful – she appears to be quite arrogant, holds herself with incredible confidence, and rarely does she crack a smile. While this may be an off-putting description of Emeline, there are some attributes that some might find endearing. She is truly a dedicated mother, and she is damn good at pretending that she cares about people outside of her son.

But in the end, Emeline has a hard time when it comes to other people. There is only so much pretending she can pull off, and she sometimes finds herself at a loss when people approach her about something outside of her control. There’s rarely a moment that she’s able to assist someone with some emotionally scarring event, or when she can find it within herself to offer them comfort in times of distress. Other than her son, there’s really no one she is able to work up such emotions for.

As emotionally daft as she is, however, she has an incredibly deep insight of them. Body language is something that she is especially sensitive to, and she isn’t one to play games and wait for someone to approach her about whatever issue they may take with her. She is almost brutal in her honesty, and doesn’t seem too concerned with hurting someone’s feelings if she feels the need to tell them they’re being a douche bag. High-class as she may be, Emeline is not above swearing at someone and name-calling if it comes right down to it, but it’s hardly out of anger that she does this.

Since her pregnancy, however, she has been displaying some degree of emotion in various areas. While these are mostly confined to her home, she has moments where she slips up and cracks a smile or tears up. Because she is not used to such things, though, she has the tendency to run away from them and deny that she ever felt anything. A part of her may be afraid to face the idea that she might be just as normal as everyone else in the world, and as such she isn’t sure how to deal with this in the very least.

background

Marianne and Jacob Jones had everything that a person could wish for, and more, in a time of chaos and confusion. Jacob’s father had come from a long line of American oil tycoons, while Marianne’s from a family of politically influential men and women in Europe. The two of them met at an airport in London, one of the very few still open, where Jacob had been fleeing America with his parents. It was soon after they met that the first wave of nuclear bombs struck the Land of the Free, and the two of them stood by one another during the on-going catalyst that engulfed the world.

It was shortly after the war that the couple married, and immediately began taking hold of whatever left over influence their family had with the newly established World Government they could get their hands on. Not long into their marriage, Marianne discovered she was pregnant, and although it did upset her to do so, she willingly put her career on hold when their child was born. Whatever lack of enthusiasm Marianne had for her daughter, Jacob made up for it ten fold. He was the one to choose the name Emeline, and also the one who would become a bigger part of the girl’s life than her own mother. And so it could be said that Emeline’s early years were filled with everything a little girl would ever want from her parents, as she was incredibly spoiled by her father.

Emeline’s life was nothing short of privileged. She had everything at her disposal, and she very nearly got whatever she wanted whenever she pleased. Jacob had made sure that his little princess was never wearing a frown, while Marianne saw to it that her daughter received a proper education and knew just who was really in charge in the Jones household. By the time Emeline was old enough to do mathematics, she was old enough to speak three languages as fluently and easily as any native speaker.

But Marianne was unimpressed, and seemed to know quite well that there was something wrong with her child. Since the time Emeline could walk, Marianne became aware that her emotions were entirely too complex for a child. Namely, Emeline rarely seemed to exhibit even having any at all, and thus led Marianne to believe that something was terribly out of place. Fearful of the family’s reputation, Marianne made it perfectly clear to Emeline that one must conform to the normalities of society in order to be accepted, and made sure that she knew which emotion to feign at what time.

However, when Emeline was preparing for high school, she made a rather strange request to her parents. She insisted that she attend a public school, and when her parents denied her request at first, they found that she could find ways to make them bend to her will by simply not attending her classes, or rebelling constantly against the dress code. So to her parents’ rather vocal dismay, they allowed her to choose a school for herself and upon her decision, the three promptly relocated themselves to Berlin.

Of course, it goes without saying that Emeline’s “normal” teenage life consisted of the very basic principles that comes with being insanely rich. She was pretty, popular, fashionable and very smart. But it wasn’t as if she truly seemed to care about such attributes, and she didn’t bother identifying herself with one particular group or another. It really depended on how she wanted to present herself on that particular day, and sometimes she chose to dress as high-class as possible and sit down with the social outcasts. It was always a sort of experiment for her, to be so different from the people she sat with from time to time, and there was no denying that she enjoyed it to some degree.

High school flew by quickly for her, and she quickly moved onto college upon its completion. University was hardly much different from high school, and she went through it without a complaint and with nothing but the top grades she could grab for herself. Perhaps the only thing that seemed to be a struggle for her was how different she was from other people. It was becoming harder for her to comply with the lessons her mother had given her as a child, and trying to keep up with people’s turbulent emotions became more of a fight for her as she grew older. Maybe they were just too complex for her, she had decided, and it was this thought process that led to her string of short-time boyfriends and one-night stands.

Once she was completed with college, she went straight into the world of the rich and beautiful. There were parties to attend, charities to donate to, and designer clothes to model on occasion. Her father’s influence with the World Government branched on to her, and she became something of a bit of a fashion figure for the younger generation. It was through this connection that she became quite prominent in politics, but she never did seem interested in following their schedule. She had made it quite clear, after all, that there were only so many events she could attend in the World Government’s name, and if they tried to demand anything of her, she would rebel in her own way like the typical spoiled brat.

Sometime during these times, she had come across Kilian Tröger – quite possibly the most important figure on the World Government’s chessboard. While the two of them never became particularly close, she did maintain a sort of strictly business-like friendship with him. While many people expected Emeline and Kilian to hit it off, it was one of his younger brothers that she took an interest in – that being Nikolaus Tröger. He was ten years younger than her, had dreadlocks and wore completely oversized clothes like a little rapper wannabe. His lip was pierced and he played the guitar in some little band that not even Emeline could take seriously, and there was no reason to believe anything ever came of the drink she shared with him one evening, and not even the paparazzi cared enough to stick around. It was probably business-related anyway, they had decided.

It wasn’t until months later and a noticeable baby bump that rumours immediately began to take off. But did anyone suspect that one-night drink with Nikolaus? Apparently not, and it wasn’t like that was any kind of problem for her. She allowed them to come up with their own stories of who the father of her baby was, not willing to comment on it herself and refusing to answer such questions during interviews. Emeline never even bothered giving any of the Trögers a call, and remained perfectly fine in Kilian’s presence even when it was beyond the point of being able to hide her pregnancy.

As is the way in the world of celebrity, Emeline gave birth to her son with the hospital surrounded by people with cameras and various reporters just dying to get the first image of the bastard child. Even now, she didn’t bother giving anyone any information about the child’s father, instead opting to allowing a few reporters to take snapshots of herself and her newborn, Lucas, just weeks after his birth.

In spite of whatever damage her reputation suffered with having a bastard child, Emeline seemed perfectly content with her life as a mother. Although she remained as fashionable and gorgeous as ever, it wasn’t long before she was seen playing with remote-control cars and soccer balls with Lucas. She seemed incredibly determined to be a good mother, and there wasn’t much that could dissuade her from her duties as “mummy.” She had a few relationships here and there with both men and women that became relatively important in Lucas’ life, but they never lasted very long, and she didn’t seem interested in dedicating herself solely to one person. After all, why would she want to introduce some stranger into Lucas’s life when she knows perfectly well who his actual father is?

Social

→ relationships

family

  • Jacob Jones — Father, alive and living in London. He spoils her rotten, and even after the fiasco of her pregnancy with a fatherless child, he remained ever vigilant to making sure she got whatever she wanted.
  • Marianne Jones — Mother, alive and living in London. She never really got along with her daughter on any particular level, but she did teach her how to feign certain emotions for the public. Since Lucas’s birth, however, she’s remained very distant.
  • Lucas Scott Jones — Son (3). At first, Emeline was unsure about whether or not she should actually go through with having a child, but when her mother suggested she pull some strings and get an abortion, she decided to keep the baby. Her pregnancy with him was wrought with certain turmoils, such as attempting to cope with the newly forming emotions she was subjected to. It was on the 19 of May and after hours of painful labour, Lucas was born and Emeline resolved to keep his father's identity a secret – not just for her sake, but for the father's and Lucas's as well. Since he was born, Emeline has been very diligent in the responsibilities that come with being a single parent, though she's never had a reason to complain. The best way of describing her as a mother is to say that she is the football mom who will run across the muddy field in her best shoes if only to amuse her son.
  • Nikolaus Tröger — A one-night stand led that led to the birth of Lucas, she’s well aware that he’s the father of her child. However, given his young age and both their reputations, she refused to divulge any of this information to anyone – including her parents. While she doesn’t think he wouldn’t have wanted to help her raise a child, she was more or less attempting to protect him from the cruelty of the paparazzi if anyone were to find out. She only very recently told him of Lucas's existence, and was surprised that Nikolaus didn't run for the hills. In fact, he opted to learn more about his son and offered to meet him a mere day after finding out. She has attempted time and time again to pretend she has nothing beyond a strictly "baby daddy just visiting the kid once in a while"-like relationship, but as time goes on, she's slowly warming up to him beyond that.

friends

  • Vincent Alkaev — Her fabulously gay friend, Emeline is more motherly toward Vincent than she'd like to admit, but it's for good reason. She dislikes knowing that he has so many issues and yet he won't ask her for the simple things, such as money and the like. Still, she doesn't suppose she can blame him, and treats him as well as she can all the same. He's one of the few people she trusts with certain secrets and goes to for certain advice, and in turn she makes sure he'll receive various forms of fashionable wear from time to time if only to encourage him to dress like a human being. It doesn't hurt that he's able to handle her when she's on a pregnancy-induced rampage of emotions.
  • Russell Brody — She's known Russell for sometime now, but it wasn't until recent years that the two became what some might call "close." While Emeline isn't necessarily attached to Russell, she does appreciate his company more than she'd ever let on. Since the birth of her son, she has found that going to Russell for parenting tips is much easier than calling up her father and interrupting his meetings when Lucas is getting rowdy. It certainly doesn't hurt that he is quite attractive as well.
  • Samuel MacKenzie — High school was full of memories that Emeline holds quite close to her heart, and many people she found very intriguing. Perhaps one of the only people she was willing to keep in personal contact with was Samuel, as she greatly enjoyed tormenting him during their teen years. Always willing to give him fashion advice and offer to style him up, Emeline has no qualms with invading his personal bubble or making obvious sexual advances regardless of what he might say in protest.
  • Henri Michel — Some years ago, one of Henri's books became something she couldn't put down and she sought to meet the author to praise his work personally. To her surprise, he was young, attractive, and Asian – three things she certainly wasn't expecting. Never the less, she formed a friendship with the man and visits him on a regular business. Lucas also seems to enjoy his company greatly, and often times asks his mother to go visit him when he doesn't want to be babysat by nannies.
  • Adele Hertz — Quite possibly one of the only people she manages to genuinely get along with. Adele is one of the few that doesn’t pressure her into showing off a great amount of emotion, and as such Emeline feels quite comfortable in her presence. Ironically, the tabloids attempt to pit the two of them against one another, but their efforts are in vain. From time to time, though, they entertain the public by mock fighting, complete with hair-pulling and name-calling.
  • Wilhelmina Corte-Real — One of her best friends, Mina is certainly someone that adds to Emeline's status as celebrity. The two of them seem to have a pretty strong friendship, and Emeline goes out of her way to make plans to visit with Mina whenever she can. She's also one of the very, very few people outside of her family who have seen her give a real smile.
  • Kilian Tröger — While the two of them aren’t incredibly close, there’s no denying that they’re relatively good friends. Kilian was one of the men the paparazzi rumoured to be Lucas’s father, but she let him fend those rumours off himself. Even though she knows that he is her son’s uncle, the only time he had ever gotten a chance to “meet” Lucas was when the child was still in her womb.

undecided

  • Ethan Park — Perhaps one of the people who's known her longest, Ethan isn't exactly what she would call a friend. Never the less, he is a man that Emeline trusts more than enough and usually calls him first when she absolutely needs someone to be at her side. During her pregnancy, she relied on him to protect her from the brutality of the paparazzi when she simply couldn't stand it herself. Now, she normally only speaks to or visits him whenever they happen to cross paths. Lucas adores his company, however, and when the chance does come up where he can spend time with the older man, Emeline takes great measures to ensure it happens.

other

  • Samantha Smith — Emeline's personal assistant, one could easily say that it's easy for Emeline to walk all over this poor girl. She appears to lack very much self-confidence and is often times left to take care of Lucas when Emeline is simply too busy. While she seems to have a decent amount of enthusiasm for her job, she doesn't approve of many of the things Emeline chooses to do, but rarely speaks up.
  • Anthony Stark — Quite possibly one of the few people she can honestly trust with her life, Anthony isn't a friend so much as he is a lifeline. He has so far protected her and her son from stalkers, death threats, and even an assassination attempt. She greatly appreciates everything Anthony does for her, and his advice is the only kind she can take to heart. However, she has moments where she must do things her way or there will be hell to pay.

Miscellaneous

→ random facts

personal

  • Emeline owns over three thousand shoes, all of them high heels. She never leaves her home without a pair of pumps on, and it’s incredibly rare to see her in flats.
  • Rivalling her pump collection is her large assortment of sunglasses. Like her precious pumps, she hardly ever leaves her home without a pair on.
  • She doesn’t like dealing with people who want a serious, long-term relationship.
  • Attempting to mess with her emotionally is very hard to do, seeing as she doesn’t really have many emotions to be played with.
  • She cannot leave her home without a cup of coffee.
  • Emeline would be a vegetarian if it weren’t expected of her to be.
  • In her own way, she will rebel against what society might consider normal, and she takes a preference for strange people.
  • She owns three large estates; one in Berlin, one in London, and one in Budapest. She also has a summer home in St. John’s and a little cottage in Stockholm – she visits both regularly with Lucas.
  • Emeline adores carnivals and circuses.
  • After Lucas was born, Emeline was informed that she was unable to have anymore children. Then she managed to get pregnant again and she swears she might have to hurt some doctors for it.
  • As unexpected as Emeline tries to be, she is the typical spoiled brat when it comes to certain things. The last time Emeline visited St. John's, her luggage was lost and never retrieved, and as a result she demanded free travel on the Atlantic Underground for life as compensation for their incompetence.
  • Anytime she rides a train for longer than an hour, she gets a stomach ache. Instead of whinging about it, she instead tends to get awfully giggly and laughs at everything in order to distract herself from being sick.
  • Don't ask her to cook anything. She can follow directions perfectly and usually make something just fine, but she has a habit of eating the ingredients as she cooks.
  • Emeline can be incredibly vulgar in the most inappropriate times. "Cocks" and "sod pies" are among her favourite vulgarities.

familial

  • She spends more money on Lucas than she does herself. Much more.
  • For his second birthday, Emeline held a rather large party and hired several actors to portray his favourite cartoon characters.
  • Lucas gets whatever he wants, whenever he wants – this includes any late-night demands, and she’s gone so far as had a cake shipped directly from London to Berlin in one night.
  • Her son seem to have developed a taste in oversized hats and t-shirts, and while that should worry her on some base level, it really just amuses her more than anything.
  • In every home that she owns, there is a room dedicated solely to Lucas filled to the brim with different toys. She recently paid to have a miniature version of their cottage in Stockholm built in the backyard of their Berlin home.
  • Marianne rarely comes to see her daughter and grandchild, but when she does she is far from the typical grandmother. She’s made a habit out of punishing Lucas more than spoiling.
  • Jacob, on the other hand, spoils Lucas almost more than he ever did his own daughter.

→ in-game events

  • 13 October: Nikolaus has agreed to meet Lucas for the first time, and Emeline decides the most comfortable atmosphere for them all would be in the park. It goes as well as can be expected, even if she got made fun of a bit and her sunglasses stolen from her.
Later that evening, Emeline decides to tell Lucas who the man they had met earlier that day was. His response is little more than a mere "okay," which was certainly not what she was expecting.
  • 22 December: Recently having discovered that she is one again pregnant, the stress of knowing that she's carrying twins that belong to a man ten years her youth coupled with the knowledge the media won't go easy on her for it is wearing her down easily. It doesn't help that Lucas seems to have developed a bad case of RSBS ("rotten spoiled brat syndrome") and has been giving her Hell.
  • 10 January: Finally realising that she can't hide her pregnancy for much longer, Emeline at last tells Nikolaus that she is carrying his children. Much to her surprise, he seems willing to accept the news and actually appears to want to be there for the new arrivals. In her confusion, all she can ask is why he's so willing to take on so much responsibility, to which he replies he loves her and Lucas.
