personality
Cool and relatively collected, Andre is the complete opposite of who he used to be in terms of personality. Andreas is known for being incredibly patient and pretty chill about nearly everything he’s faced with. There’s a lot that he can tolerate, and it takes a hell of a ton to piss him off to the point of intense rage. However, he still retains some very Wil-like qualities; when he’s upset, he closes himself off to practically everyone, and he doesn’t think twice about lashing out when he feels threatened. In the end, though, he is but a shadow of his former self, the experiments performed on him coupled with the behavioural modifications having made sure of that.
Being amnesiac has had a significant impact on his attitude as well. As Andre believes that Gideon and Athena are his parents and Daisy is his sister, he can’t help but to feel like he owes them something for losing all his memories and the amount of stress they must have endured while he was in the hospital. He appreciates his time alive more than ever, and even if he can’t remember much about his life prior to waking up from his coma, he’s completely re-immersed himself in the daily routine and normalities that make up his family.
When it comes to responsibility, Andre is twice as diligent about making sure he does what needs to be done. He refuses to miss a day of school, is never late to work without a good reason, and can’t stand the idea of not keeping up on his own room’s cleanliness. Maids and gardeners be damned, Andre will sometimes even be found taking their jobs by working on the house himself. Seeing as he has a twenty-four year old professional linguist to live up to, Andre sometimes stresses himself out too much trying to keep on par with her skills in what he’s studying. While he’s not as intelligent as his sister, he makes up for it in being incredibly determined, and it’s hard to believe that he can ever catch a break from how much he studies to do breathe, much less work part-time at a local bar.
Another prominent quality Andreas has is that he is incredibly romantic. He has a very classic view of love and how it works, and as a result he refuses to have sex with anyone until he finds that one person who means more to him than anything in the world. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a terrible flirt, though, as he is incredibly prone to leading people on until they get all worked up before he simply walks away or ignores them. God forbid anyone try to talk him into something he doesn’t want, because that only leads to his calling for his big sister to deal with them.
A simple way to describe Andreas is to compare him to his father; like Gideon, Andre is very tall and pretty quiet most of the time. Add those two traits to his knack for wearing dark eye-make-up and various gothic trinkets and you have yourself a bonafide miniature goth version of Gideon Trevilyan. But as tall and scary-looking as he can be, his intimidation level is significantly lower than would be expected. Andre is cursed (or blessed, depending on what situation he’s in) with an extremely feminine face and lanky body. As such, it’s rare when he meets someone who’s actually fearful or wary of him, and he thus needs to rely on Daisy to scare them off if they try to mess with him.
abilities
- EMPATHY — The ability to feel what others are feeling, this ability is less prominent than his other one. The only time Andreas is truly aware of others’ emotions are when they are incredibly strong, or if he’s in Daisy’s presence.
- TELEPATHY — This power is more of a curse to Andre than it is a blessing. While he’s under the impression he’s had this ability since birth, he’s never known how to control it. As a result, Andre can only hear surface thoughts of those around him, and it’s very rare when he can hear anything beyond that.
→ Both of this abilities were once only shared between Wilhelm and Nikolaus Tröger before being enhanced beyond their hive-mind state by Hannes Tröger. Neither of them were able to be “perfected” during the experiments, and the end result was two very big flaws: one, Wilhelm could never go beyond surface thoughts or block anything out when it becomes too much; two, when Andre is under stress or when he’s subconsciously attempting to retrieve his memories forcefully, an entire city’s worth of people’s thoughts and emotions will flood into his brain and leave him desperate to get them out.
background
Born on an obscure holiday just like his older sister, Andreas’ family life has been what most might call completely normal. His parents were two loving, successful people who had come together by chance and ended up producing two incredibly gifted children. Growing up with a pyrokinetic had proven itself to be a good learning experience for Andreas; he learned how to control his temper and keep to himself when his parents needed to tend to his sister. That didn’t mean they didn’t pay attention to him either, of course. His father played various sports with him, while his mother helped him bake cookies for St. Nick every Christmas. Daisy and he fought over toys and their parents’ affection, but it was clear to anyone who knew them at that age that they loved each other dearly.
Nothing about his childhood could be deemed unusual by anyone in any regard. Until, of course, they realise that everything Andreas knows about his life was an illusion created by the World Government. As a means to cover up the brutal experimentations done on Wilhelm Tröger, top scientists and official representatives took it upon themselves to bury the past by “reprogramming” the youngest Tröger boy, erasing his memories and sending him to live with Gideon Trevilyan and his partner, Athena Notara. Within the short time that he’s been living in the household, he has regained some of his “memories” as Andreas, although this is a result of Hannes’ implementing subliminal messages and various bits of information about the Notaras and his imagination taking shape.
But life goes on for Andreas while he remains oblivious to his true identity and what happened to him during his “coma.” He’s enrolled into a local university and landed himself a job at the same bar Daisy works at part-time, and while he doesn’t have many memories (if any at all) of his life, he doesn’t let that get in the way of his relationship with his family. With two very good friends and a head voice that he calls Jiminy, Andreas has nothing to complain about and no reason to ever suspect that something isn’t quite right.
Social
→ relationships
family
- Gideon Trevilyan — Father. Alive, living in St. John’s. Andre's relationship with his father is like any normal father-son relationship. The two of them play the occassional sport with one another, and Andre drops by Gideon's office unannounced on a regular basis. While he was intimidated by Gideon when he woke up from his coma with no memories, the older man's baby-talk to his fish seemed to have reassured Andre enough to find him anything but intimidating now.
- Athena Notara — Mother. Alive, living in St. John’s. Sometimes Andre wonders if Athena's a sadist, considering how many times she enjoys making her children squirm with her sex-discussions. Andre loves his mother dearly, and while Daisy is daddy's girl, Andre is the obligatory mama's boy and often goes to Athena when he needs comfort.
- Daisy Notara — Older Sister. Andre's relationship with his sister isn't so much complicated as it is typical. One minute there'll be insults and blunt objects flying every which way, and the next they'll be laughing and hugging like the ideal siblings. No matter what happens, though, Andre adores Daisy and often seeks her support when he feels like he can't do something on his own. There's no one he's more ready to run to when he feels threatened... except perhaps Gideon, but who runs to their father for backup when they have a little angry flame thrower?
friends
- Daniel Scott — A young man whom Andre is unbelievably close to, Daniel is currently second only to Daisy in terms of who he trusts most in his life. Over the short time that Andre's actually known Daniel, he's become very attached and reliant on him when he can't turn to his sister. There aren't many people that would understand his relationship with Daniel, and most usually end up assuming something along the lines of the two being a homosexual couple. The fact is that Andre considers Daniel the brother he never had, and looks up to him as an important figure.
- Robin Hudson — The circumstances surrounding how they met are quite sitcom-worthy; he bumped into her, knocking all her books out of her arms, and paused to help her pick them up. They met again soon after while he was working at a bar, and the two have become good friends since. While she irritates him with her conspiracy theories and her relentless attempts to convince him that he's some dead kid, Robin is one of those people that Andre would trust with his life.
- The Head Voice — Sometimes referred to as "Jiminy," the young man Andre hears in the back of his head is someone that keeps him company and knows things about him no one else seems to. While Andre thinks he's gone completely mad for even responding to the voice, he can't deny that he feels empty without the guy's voice present. In spite of he too apparently being insane and identifying himself as Nikolaus Tröger, Andre trusts him more than he trusts most people, due in part perhaps to the assistance it gives whenever he's suffering from a telepathic overload.
other
- Jussi Hanski — A somewhat older man that Andreas knows from the “special school,” Andreas doesn’t recall getting along with him too well. What he knows about Jussi consists of some very basic things: he was a huge pessimist and he always knew how to make Andreas feel sad. What memories he’s regained of Jussi are unhappy ones, so he tries not to think about him too much.
- Baek Hye Yong — A young Korean girl that attended the same private school as he. Andreas got along with her quite well, although he can’t remember ever spending any actual time with her – just that they spoke a lot without actually having to be face-to-face, leading him to assume she was another telepath. He wishes he had kept in contact with her.
- Sarah Ramsey — One of the teachers in the private school, Andreas barely remembers her name and that she was one of the nicer faculty members. For one reason or another, however, he can’t seem to figure out whether or not he actually had a class with her or he just saw her around from time to time.
- ????? — A science buff who didn’t seem to have much faith in… someone. All Andreas knows is that he can’t remember what his name was or why he suddenly disappeared.
→ It should be noted that none of these people exist the same in real life as they do in his memories. The above mentioned were all test subjects within the same research facility Wilhelm Tröger was taken to. It's unclear whether or not Hannes or any other scientists are aware that he managed to pick up on so many people's thoughts, but either way Andreas has created "memories" of knowing them all from the private school he attended.
Miscellaneous
→ random facts
personal
- Most people assume that Andre is older than Daisy due to their extreme height difference.
- Andre is still a virgin, and he's actually waiting for "the right girl" before he gives that up.
- When he's just waking up, Andre has no concept of time, and barely understands English or Greek. The German accent he had as Wilhelm when speaking English is more prominent, and he'll sometimes talk entirely in German.
familial
- Unlike Daisy, Andre is perfectly comfortable talking to his mother about sexual topics.
- Andre visits his father regularly at the company building, and usually not being very nice to the receptionists.
→ in-game events
- 4 September: An unconscious, memory-less Wilhelm arrives at Gideon and Athena's household with two Black Suits. The Black Suits proceed to brief and threaten the family about the situation, and they are ultimately forced to comply with the World Government's demands or risk losing Daisy. Andreas Notara is "born," and Wilhelm Tröger no longer exists.
- 5 September: Andreas awakens in an unfamiliar room with horrible paint to find a young woman sitting next to him. She explains that he was shot by Raiders and suffered some trauma that made him amnesiac, then continues on to tell him a bit about their family. After some talking, he falls asleep.
- 13 September: Andreas has become acquainted with his family and the household, and has no reason to suspect something isn't right. With good comes bad, and Andreas is overwhelmed with the thoughts and emotions of hundreds of people in the city without warning. It takes a bear-hug from Gideon to keep him from hurting himself in his desperation to block them out, while a strangely familiar voice forces Andre to focus on his voice alone before he's finally "back to normal."
- 20 November: Fed up with not being able to see his sister very often, Andre buys a ticket to Europe and plans to surprise Daisy with a visit. His plans are thwarted, however, while on his way to the station he is involved in a violent crash. The crash knocks him around a bit and even causes him to break his collar bone, but he survives. Begrudgingly does he comply with his doctor's orders not to try traveling with his broken bone anytime soon.
